Kids' KornerGames, trivia, and information on becoming a scuba diver! Make sure you come back to visit us! We'll be adding more cool photographs of marine life and more trivia about the underwater ecosystem every couple of weeks. Welcome to Chipola Divers' web page dedicated to the kids interested in scuba diving. Check out the photographs and and trivia below. As we become familiar with the way things work in Florida, we'll be adding some services for kids here like the PADI SEAL team and Bubblemaker parties. Keep checking back to see what these things are about. ![]() Can you find the marine life hidden in these photographs?![]() ![]() Is this a plant or an animal?
Check out neat trivia about underwater life. The largest fish is the whale shark. It was once thought they measured about 30 feet long. There have been many reports of whale sharks up to 50 feet long. The longest one on record measured 59 feet! The shortest marine fish (meaning found in the ocean) is the Schindleria praematurus. It measures from 12 to 19 millimeters long. Ten millimeters equals a centimeter and two and a half centimeters equals an inch. So this fish is less than an inch long! The fastest fish is the sailfish. It can swim almost 70 miles per hour. The slowest fish is the seahorse (Yes, it's a fish!). It can only swim 1/100th of a mile per hour! Of course, you must have your parents' permission. And, you should also have someone in your family that's a certified diver. At this age you will only be able to dive with a certified adult. If no one in your family wants to get certified, that's okay. You can still explore the underwater world. With your parents' permission you can even get in the pool with us while wearing scuba diving gear by joining the PADI Seal Team. ![]() There is some studying involved. Being underwater isn't like being on land. If something goes wrong, you need to know how to react. That's what scuba diving classes teach you. Scuba diving is a very safe sport, but what makes it safe is the training that scuba divers have to undergo. To learn more about scuba diving for kids, check out the following link: PADI Kids |
