Morrison Springs 4/18/10- Morrison Spring is finally clear again. We were out there for a dry suit course. We arrived before the crowds to find great visibility in the basin. We could easily see the platform from the floating dock, as well as a very noticeable boil over the cavern opening. We were the second team in the water and found 40' + of visibility in the basin. We spent about 45 minutes swimming around the basin practicing skills. As more dive teams entered the water visibility did start to decrease. By the time we exited, the locals has started arriving and the beach was filling up. There were also close to two dozen more divers at the surface about to start their dives. Our second dive gave us about 20-30' of visibility in the basin. Our student was overhead trained and certified and had done very well in open water, so we decided to go into the cavern to work on some skills. We could easily see from one end of the cavern to the other but it was slightly hazy. By the time we headed out visibility in the basin had dropped down to less than 20'. Flow is higher than we've ever seen it at Morrison! |
