Coursework
Day 1 - We will begin the course by taking a look at your gear and making sure it is configured properly. Next, we will work on land drills, including reel work, following guidelines, and touch contact procedures. We'll then head to the water and conduct the first dive of the course. All skills will be introduced in open water and practiced until you are comfortable with them. This will be followed by Classroom presentation. We will spend the rest of the day and part of the next day covering cavern diving related topics, such as accident analysis, conservation, land owner relations, dive planning and gas management, emergency prevention and procedures, communications, and much, much more.
Day 2 - More cavern dives. We will spend most of the day diving. We will begin working in the cavern environment. We will dive a minimum of two caverns during this course. The day will end with a review of the final written exam. If you complete all requirements proficiently and present the right attitude for diving in an overhead environment, you will receive a cavern diving certification. Regardless of proficiency in performing skills, an improper attitude will result in denial of certification.
